river formation

This is a project we started in October.
The main materials we used were old newspaper and  chicken wire.
We stuck everything together using wallpaper paste. It took days and days to dry out enough for us to start painting it.

Papier Mache - early stages of paintwork.

We created the waterfall effect by pouring blue and white paint over the rocks!

We created a volcano with red and orange paint.  We created
snow with tiusse and glue.

This is the view from the source to the sea.
It show's the upper course, middle course, and the lower course.

The brown coloured water is a result of deposition of materials as the water enternig the sea slows down.

The man-made banks on along the side of the river are called 'Levees'. These help to retain the water and prevent flooding  in the river valley.
We really enjoyed making this big river. Now to find somewhere to put it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
